Rush University Medical Center

We are proud to highlight the longstanding commitment of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Rush University Medical Center has been in the forefront of institutions promoting disability rights through the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Rush University College of Nursing hosted the first symposium discussing issues for students with disabilities entitled Symposium on Students with Disabilities: Nursing Education and Practice in Chicago, Illinois on April 10, 2003. During this symposium NOND was founded by current NOND Directors Stacey Carroll and Karen McCulloh. Additional co-founders consisted of Gordon Ninde, CO, Leo Heifetz, IL., Stacey Carroll, MA, and Victoria Christenson, WA on April, 2003.
